Hello, everyone!

Im new here, and new in EV things.
But I have an idea that I want to discuss with you.

I want to build electric tourist car, something like this:
http://www.alibaba.com/product-gs/232806170/Electric_Tourist_Car_LQY140A.html

But by my own hands. I have driven one of these, and have an idea of how its working. I also have little bit knowledge in electics and electronics, but Im copletely new in EV.
So at first I wanted to ask about motors.
As I know usually for these tourist cars is used DC motors with traditional manual vehicle gerabox.
I was wondering what is better for this goal DC ar AC motor?
Maybe it is possible to do it without gearbox, as usually these vehicles is driven 5-10 km/h
After I will decide which kind of motor is beter to use I will have much more questions :)

Sorry for my spelling ;)

Hi Greidzha,

Did you look through the EV Information sub-forum? http://www.diyelectriccar.com/forums/showthread.php?t=669 I think you may find your answers there. Then perhaps come back with specific questions.

Good luck,

Thank you major!
I found some interesting info.

I think will go with DC motor, because it was used in electric tourist vehicle I have driven, and in my mind it is much simpler.

I think for my purposes it could be enough with this one:
http://store.kta-ev.com/Motors-DC-motors/AMD_Motor_K91-4003.aspx

Do you think it will be enough if I use gearbox too, will it be possible to reach ~40km/h with load?

So which one of conrollers do you suggest? I have read, that Curtis is quite good.

I try to stay away from recommendations like this. But seeing that the other guy uses:

Curb Weight 1100kg Max. loading weight 1050kg Configurations Standard: Motor 67V/5KW DC motor Controller Curtis 72V 400A.
I'd say you're on the right track. :)
