The e-motor we are using in the EV Jeep is rated at 12,000rpm and we wanted to use the stock Jeep NP231 transfer case so we needed a gear reduction between the e-motor and the stock transfer case.

One path was to get a second NP231 and adapt it to LOW to give a 2.72:1 gear reduction (using for example, this doubler plate: FS-NP-231-NP231 Doubler Adapter or this kit: Np231 to Dana 300/np231/241 DIY doubler kit | FrogFab).

This, combined with the stock 3.73 rear diff ratio gave us 1183 rpm at the wheel hub. Then, calculating the tire circumference, the 1183rpm with the 30" Jeep tires gave us a theoretical top speed of 106mph.
