What would happen if i used a 72 volt controller on a lexus rx400 rear assist motor. I know the system run around 400volt, ive just got a formation on the new pacifica hybrid (im a chrysler tech) and really dont like the danger of a 400v system for my project. I plan on using the motor to drive an 8x8 utv so not using the full potentiel of the motor isnt a major concerne. Thanks

it will slide the torque vs rpm graph to the left so the knee is at 72/400 of the original motor. Shortly after launching you will be in field weakening and losing torque fast. Basically it will spin at 72/400 of the original rpm, roughly speaking, though stator resistance will bring it down further on the low end.
