Hi Guys,
I have a question regarding the vacuum brake pump for my BMW 120i EV conversion. The old ICE had a pully that ran the pump but i've put in a electric pump from here: http://www.evworks.com.au/vacuum-pump-12v-4.5a-65
It turns on when the ignition starts from a relay. The mechanic said to not drive the pump without a mercury switch to turn off the pump when it reaches maximum pressure. As this might implode the diaphragm.
I just want to know if I can run it without this switch thing. I don't mind if the pump is always running.
Attached is a photo of the pump setup.
