Hi,

Wanted Affordable 96V Sepex Controller for a Zenn NEV.

I am using two Chevy Volt 22S modules (we trimmed two cells off of Chevy Volt 12S modules connected in series = 24s x 2, to get 22S) in parallel (90AH) into my Zenn NEV.

That configuration should have (22 x 4.1v x 90Ah) 90.2 x 90 = 80.18kWh, which should give a range of about 50 miles. But 84 volts is all we can get out of the battery pack before we get an over voltage error from the factory controller (a Sepex GE IC3645SR7A353E1).

Which means that we can only charge the cells to 3.81 volts, which is limiting the range to about 20 miles.

So I need to find another sepex controller that can handle the higher voltage.

If it's simple to install, and affordable it will be perfect!

Hi Martin,

One showstopping issue (number 2 below):
1. the man who will be setting it up said that it requires more complex setup than most sepex controllers.

2. the programmer for the sigma controller is $575

IMO you should have disclosed the fact that to use your "approximately $161.47" controller would require spending an additional $575 to be able to set it up.

OK Mitch , I don't think it's for you , It was just a suggestion,
Some people borrow programmers and there is a free version - Here's a post I found after a quick search from this forum --

There are many CAN compatible software programs available that should work on any CAN or CANopen compatible controllers. Below is a link for Fullmo Kickdrive. They have a free version available called Kickdrive Zero. Evaluated both versions. The paid version for $300 can create a touch screen graphical display for any CAN compatible controller. The free version was able to view and update all settings in a controller. Although, it was much more cumbersome. The free version instructions say a user defined graphical display is possible.

On the homepage look for "Kickdrive Zero" to download the free version.

There is another free software available that is much older for XP operationg systems only. Dates back to 2006, and is much harder to find. If you are interested in this version please send your contact information.

For C++ programmers, there is an API available. If anyone has C++ code for a graphical CAN interface please send a copy. VB only over here and there is no API for VB...
