Coming back to the topic at hand, I am also in the design phase of a Chevy Volt pack split in 2. And I am considering the following:
  • 2 parallel strings 48S3P
  • each string with contactor
  • string contactors commanded by charger&BMS
    • Charge Cycle - contactors closed, single charger for both strings
    • BMS command - stop charge & open contactors when first cell reaches top charge setting
    • Balancing cycle - both contactors open.
