Planning - 1988 Honda Accord Conversion

HI Everyone:

I am thinking of converting my 1988 Honda Accord to EV.

I am in the research an planning stages. I want to do this as cheaply as possible as I am on a very tight budget.

I have access to a Baldor 3 phase M3313T 10hp motor. I don't know if this is powerful enough to move my car or do I need a bigger motor.

I have just started reading thru all the forums gathering information on Motors, batteries, controls etc.

Any advice would be appreciated.

I'm very new at all this also. 10 hp sounds a little under powered. I think that there may be a rule of thumb on HP vs. weight? I'm sure someone else here can chime in on that. Now if you're just looking for in-town speeds, maybe it's ok?

Anyway, let us know how it goes because my wife has a 2003 Honda Accord that may be a EV someday!

The rule I know for HP is from evconvert.com's FAQ.

The original car engine HP divided by 8 to 10. Will give the electrip HP.
