You might check with Paul on that one. He came up with the rules. Most of the scooters he is talking about already comes with inlines fuses so I would assume factory fuses should work fine.

 

I think the point on that ruling is so that if someone has batteries which are rated for less discharge than what the scooter demands, it will shut down the scooter rather than cause a potential safety hazard from heat/fire/explosion/etc.

I.E. most scooters I've seen tend to come (or replaced) with batteries with a 1C rating... If you have a 12Ah battery rated for 1C Max burst and try to pull 20A for a "drag race" you could run into some serious problems.

Just speculation on my part, though. My new batteries that I will use are rated at 10C, but my controller is rated below that. As such I will fuse just over the controller's capability but well under the battery's capability.
